What is Collections?
Collections is initiated by creditors, like credit card companies or medical providers, aiming to recover money owed. Typically triggered by missed payments, the creditor may opt to transfer the account to a collections agency. This process serves as a means for the creditor to pursue overdue payments from the individual. Once an account is in collections, the individual is often notified of the outstanding debt, marking the beginning of the collections phase. Communication from the collections agency follows, seeking payment and potentially impacting the individual's credit score.
